Hello Laure,

I placed one of your drawings on my artblog.
So that everybody in the Netherlands see what happened there in Beirut.

Below the address of CBCnews:

(Kerblog Mazen Kerbaj, musician and cartoonist, Beirut
Audio: Starry Night - MP3 (6 min.) of Kerbaj's improvisational music accompanied by explosions.
Cartoon: Family Tree.)

I wish you many strength closed in these very heavy days.

I watch and read and I will remember what is happening now. And I hope I will visit your country soon to have good time, meet great people and share the joys of live. But now... you just have to resist, what more can I say... Peace!

Dear Mazen Kerbaj--

I can't begin to convey how horrified I am at what is happening to your country and how my country (USA) is aiding and abetting. I think what you are doing is very important. Your words and images are very moving and help the world to understand its responsibility. I wish there was something substantial I could do. But I have taken heart from your form of resistance and have made a poem-collage of some words of yours, which I've posted to my blog at If this either offends or bothers you, I will remove it immediately.

I wish you and all that you love the best and apologize again for my inability to provide support that is anything besides moral. If you can think of any concrete support I can provide, please let me know.

Yours in solidarity,

John Bloomberg-Rissman

Dear Laure Ghorayeb--

I am sorry my previous comment had your son's name insteasd of yours. But I originally sent my comment to you to him as an email. I should have been more careful when posting it as a comment. I have mentioned your son in a poem, too, by the way, which you can see on my blog (the poem is called Twenty-Seventh Hay(na)ku. I am sorry for cluttering your comments, it won't happen again.

I'm an artist, writer and dancer, from the the U.S.A. Such a different kind of art comes from here...

I have many in-laws fleeing the violence in Lebanon. I haven't been able to comprehend it, but now perhaps I have an idea. Thank you for letting us see. I'm reading, and will keep reading. My heart and prayers are with you, your son and everyone in harm's way.

I think what you are doing is incredibly strong and real.

All the best for you and your son.

People in Norway are concerned as well.

This is madness. All good wishes,

Arvid, Oslo, Norway.

j'ai été touché de la façon dont tu as réagi à mes dessins.C'est un grand défi que d'affronter une si grande tragédie.
Mazen et moi résistons chacun à sa manière puis nous nous passons le message du refus d'abdiquer.
